Talare: Title of the seminar: The Future of
Russian-European Energy Relations
Brief abstract: Europe has
imported Russian natural resources and agricultural raw materials for at least
800 years. For the past century and a half, the main focus has been on energy
in different forms. With the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, there was a
radical disruption in these flows. But does that mean that we will never again
see any large-scale energy flows between East and West? In this talk Per
Högselius outlines some possible scenarios for the future. The main prediction
is that Russian-European energy relations will be revived in the future,
although they may take new and unexpected forms.
Brief about the speaker: Per Högselius is a professor of the history of technology at KTH in Stockholm. His teaching and
research revolve around energy systems in the past and present from a societal
point of view, especially an international perspective.
